This year Zion Episcopal Church, 140 West Liberty Street, Rome, will be presenting a Blessing of the Animals to be held at the Rome Humane Society on Lamphear Road, in recognition of the service of St. Francis. The blessing will be on Saturday morning, October 4, at 11:00 am on the front lawn of the Humane Society. There is no rain date planned. All humans and their pets are invited- please keep dogs and any large animals on leashes, cats in crates, and any other pets under similar control. Children may bring a stuffed animal toy instead of a live pet. Immediately following the pet blessing, after all pets have been safely stowed back into their family vehicles, the blessing will continue into the shelter to bless all the shelter animals in their cages.
The public is welcome and encouraged to bring their family pets. We would also ask that, if possible, you bring large rawhide dog bones, dawn dish soap, or a cat toy donation to give to the Humane Society. Thank you ! We hope to see you there.
